Toyota finds no new violations in certification investigation By Reuters

TOKYO (Reuters) – Toyota Motor has not identified any new cases of violations in certification applications for its car models beyond those already reported last month, the Japanese automaker said in a statement on Friday.

The world’s top-selling automaker said it had reported its findings to Japan’s transport ministry after completing its investigation into the certification process for all domestic models over the past decade.

Toyota (NYSE:) and four other vehicle manufacturers admitted in early June that they had submitted either incorrect or manipulated data when applying for vehicle certification.

The companies conducted the investigation after the Ministry of Transport ordered industry-wide reviews of certification practices following a safety testing scandal at Toyota’s compact car division Daihatsu.

Toyota said on Friday that the company would continue to take measures in line with the Ministry of Transport’s guidelines.

The automaker has now completed its investigation as it had initially needed more time to investigate issues related to vehicle emissions and fuel efficiency in its certification applications.

Following the Daihatsu scandal, shareholder support for Chairman Akio Toyoda fell to a record low of 72% at Toyota’s annual general meeting after two proxy advisors recommended voting against his re-election on corporate governance grounds.
