Two people arrested in Boston after firearms were seized during the execution of the arrest warrant

BOSTON – Youth Violence Strike Force officers arrested two men on firearms violations and an outstanding warrant while executing a warrant in the city Wednesday morning.

At approximately 10:06 a.m., officers were executing a search warrant for Chayanne Velazquez, 32, of Dorchester, at an apartment located at 270 Huntington Avenue when, after announcing their presence, they heard movement inside.

Velazquez and Isiaih Speller, 28, of Boston, were eventually arrested after a brief standoff during which officers observed firearms being thrown from the apartment window.

Authorities found two black Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm pistols with ejected magazines on the sidewalk and in the street below the window.

In Boston, he was additionally charged with illegal possession of a firearm (2nd offense), carrying a loaded weapon, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and evading justice.

Speller was arrested on several warrants for violation of an abuse prevention order, A&B with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, A&B 209A, and menacing.

He also faces new charges including illegal possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded weapon and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

Both men are currently in custody and investigations are ongoing.
