Visva Varathakumar killed: Man dies after pedestrian accident along North Broad Street in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Broad Street in Philadelphia on Saturday.

It happened shortly after 1 p.m. in the 700 block of North Broad Street.

According to police, a silver 2022 Nissan Rogue was traveling northbound, driven by a 24-year-old woman.

The vehicle then reportedly hit a pedestrian, identified by authorities as Visva Varathakumar.

Investigators say Varathakumar was trying to cross the street when he was hit.

According to reports, he landed on the hood of the car after the accident.

Varathakumar was taken to Jefferson University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing. Police have not yet announced whether charges have been filed.
