Two people arrested in separate incidents by Rhode Island State Police

SCITUATE – Two people were arrested in separate incidents following traffic stops by Rhode Island State Police over the weekend.

On June 29 at 11:15 a.m., Shalomah Dia, 31, of New Britain, Connecticut, was arrested by police on the basis of an affidavit and warrant issued by the Providence Police Department for simple domestic violence.

Dia was stopped on Route 6 in Johnston and later turned over to the Providence Police Department after being processed at headquarters.

The following night, on June 30 at 11:13 p.m., 45-year-old Ernesto Enriques of Providence was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicating beverages or drugs and refusing to submit to a chemical test.

This was Enrique’s first drunk driving offense and his second for refusing a drug test.

The arrest occurred on Route 295 in Smithfield.

Enriques was investigated at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned, and placed in the custody of a responsible adult.
