After presidential debate in Atlanta, lawmakers evaluate candidates’ performances – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA — As soon as the debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump ended at CNN studios, News on channel 2 was in the press room to gather reactions from the leaders of the two main political parties.

Democrats said Trump repeatedly made false statements during the debate, while Republicans said Biden’s “challenges” were a concern for America’s perception on the international stage.

“I almost forgot how much Donald Trump lies,” said Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock. “I mean, the man stood there and lied for 90 minutes straight, he’s a rare talent but he’s not the one we need in the Oval Office.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom was also in the chat room and said Channel 2 News it focuses on what Biden accomplished as president.

“I know Joe Biden. I know what he’s accomplished over the last three and a half years. I know what he’s capable of, I know his vision, and I have no apprehension,” Newsom said.

Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York said Biden’s performance was problematic and embarrassing.

“It’s such an obvious contrast. President Trump brings strength, vision and a focus on working on behalf of the American people,” Stefanik said. “Joe Biden can’t even finish the debate. They must hide Joe Biden. If this is his performance after a week of debate camp, it’s catastrophic and embarrassing. »

Florida Senator Marco Rubio was more concerned about the reaction of the United States’ international adversaries to the president’s performance on stage.

“Our adversaries are going to see this show in Beijing, in Moscow, in Tehran, and I worry about the security of the country when they see that our president is in trouble,” Rubio said.
