Person hit and killed by Amtrak train in east Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – One person was killed early Friday morning when he was struck by an Amtrak train in east Charlotte.

The collision occurred shortly before 1 a.m. on Old Concord Road near Rocky River Road.

Amtrak officials said the train was traveling from New York City to Charlotte.

Neither the train crew nor the 106 passengers on board the train were injured.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased person.
