Sebas Ferreira named to MLSSoccer.com Matchday Team

Houston Dynamo Before Sebas Ferreira was appointed to MLSSoccer.com Team of the Day for the 22nd day, the league announced today.

The Dynamo earned a 4-1 win over DC United at Audi Field on Saturday behind Ferriera’s first hat trick with Houston. The feat marks Dynamo’s first hat trick since Erick Torres in 2017 and the first road hat trick by a Dynamo player.

Saturday also marked the head coach Ben Olsen first MLS game in the nation’s capital since leaving the club in 2020. Olsen spent more than two decades with DC United as a player and head coach.

Ferreira first found the back of the net in the 51stst minute from the penalty spot to level the score with one goal each. The Paraguayan then gave Houston the lead three minutes later, sending a ball into the back of the net past the striker. Amine Bassi sent him to the penalty box. Ferreira completed his hat trick in 86th minute he controlled a cross from the left side of the defender Brad Smith and I inserted it into the goal.

Ferreira led the team in several key statistical categories on Saturday, including touches in the opponent’s box (8), shots (5), shots inside the box (5), aerial duels (5), aerial duels won (4), shots on objective (3) and big chances (2).

Ferreira is the 12thth The Dynamo player will be named in this season’s matchday squad and will be joined by Blessing Latif (21st day), Franco Escobar (7th and 20th days), Héctor Herrera (18th and 13th days), Andrew Tarbell (17th day), Bassi (17th day), Erik Sviatchenko (15th day), Griffin Dorsey (13th day), Ethan Bartlow (9th day), Arthur (7th day), Smith (6th day) and Aliyou Ibrahim(5th day). Olsen was also named to the Matchday 9 squad following Houston’s 2-1 victory at Minnesota United FC.

Houston will next host Charlotte FC on Saturday, June 29 with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT at Shell Energy Stadium. The club will be celebrating Pride Night throughout the day, and tickets for the match are available HERE.
