House in Wading River destroyed by fire: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY – A home in Wading River was destroyed by fire Friday evening.

According to Riverhead Town Police, a 911 call came in at 10:36 p.m. about a house fire on North Wading River Road. When Riverhead Police and Wading River Fire Department officers arrived, they found the house, which is adjacent to the Wading River Cemetery, fully engulfed in flames, police said.

According to police, no residents were at home when the fire broke out, but they came to the scene after being notified.

Wading River Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire without further incident, and there were no reported injuries, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, the City of Riverhead Fire Marshal and the Suffolk County Police Department’s Arson Investigation Unit also traveled to the scene to conduct further investigations, police said.
