4 injured in high-speed crash involving multiple vehicles in SeaTac

Four people were injured in a high-speed, multi-vehicle crash in SeaTac late Friday afternoon.

Puget Sound Fire first tweeted about the crash in the 3200 block of South 200th Street just before 4:50 p.m. Friday. The King County Sheriff’s Office said two small sedans were involved in the crash and “multiple occupants” were injured.

The KCSO further determined that at least one passenger was trapped in an overturned vehicle before he could be rescued. The injured passengers were transported to Harborview Medical Center and other local hospitals, according to KCSO.

Pat Pawlak, CIO Division Chief for the Puget Sound Fire Department, initially told KOMO News that two people were critically injured and four others had moderate injuries. The department tweeted an update at 5:08 p.m. saying three people were critically injured and one person had “moderate” injuries.

The KCSO’s Major Accident Response and Reconstruction Unit was also called to the scene to complete the investigation as “serious injuries were possible in the accident.” Investigators from the MARR unit will attempt to determine who caused the accident and “identify the at-fault party if possible.”

Officials from the SeaTac Police Department and the King County Sheriff’s Office also advised that South 200th Street will remain closed for an extended period of time.

“No one has come by yet,” said Pat Pawlak, chief information officer for the Puget Sound Fire Department.
