1 dead in Thursday night shooting at a West Tuscaloosa home

One person is dead after a shooting in west Tuscaloosa late Thursday night, police report.

Captain Marty Sellers, co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media shortly after midnight Friday that TPD officers and VCU investigators were on scene responding to a shooting at a residence on 33rd Avenue in Tuscaloosa.

Sellers said one man was dead; he did not yet disclose the victim’s age or identity.

According to Tuscaloosa Thread figures, this is the 16th murder case VCU has investigated so far in 2024.
