Lansing man killed in hit-and-run crash in Auburn Hills

AUBURN HILLS, Mich – Police are investigating after a man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident in Auburn Hills.

At 3:41 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, first responders received a call reporting a person lying in the road on South Boulevard near Sheffield Road in Auburn Hills.

Bloomfield Township police and firefighters were the first to arrive on scene. According to police, they found a man on the street who had been injured and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was later identified as a 40-year-old man from Lansing, Michigan.

A witness told investigators they were driving west on South Boulevard when they saw the man lying in the westbound lanes. The witness said another vehicle hit the man and did not stop.

The vehicle that struck the man was described as dark in color and may have been a crossover or small SUV.

The crash is being investigated by the Auburn Hills Police Department and the Southeast Oakland County Crash Investigations Team (SOCCIT).
