Chicago police seek suspect in sexual assault at Belmont Central – NBC Chicago

Chicago police were searching Monday for the man wanted in connection with a sexual assault last month in the Belmont Central neighborhood in the northwest part of the city.

In a public alert issued Monday morning, police released video footage of the person being sought for an incident that occurred on May 28 in the 2900 block of North Mango Avenue. According to authorities, a woman was forcibly lifted up by a man and forced into an aisle.

The suspect then told the victim that if she continued screaming he would kill her, police said. He then fled south down the alley to George Street, from where he continued east onto Central Avenue and then west onto Parkside Avenue.

According to police, the perpetrator left his gray shirt and black hoodie at the crime scene.

The video shows the suspect shirtless jumping over a fence and running down the street.

The man is described as 25 to 35 years old, approximately 5’7″ to 5’8″ tall and weighing 150 to 200 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call Area Five detectives at 312-746-6554.
