The basis for the measure was the complaint filed on Monday evening by the family members of the 15-year-old girl, the police said.

According to the complaint, police said the accused raped her multiple times on Monday evening when she was with her boyfriend, also made an obscene video of the minor with her male friend and threatened her with dire consequences.

Following the complaint, police swung into action and arrested five accused within 36 hours of the incident, Shahdol Police Commissioner (SP) Kumar Prateek said.

“On Monday evening, the girl was walking home from training, met a friend on the way and they both went for a walk when about five youths took the girl to a nearby forest and beat up the girl’s friend. Later, they gang-raped the girl and also took a video of her with her friend and threatened the girl to post that video on social media if she complained,” said SP Prateek.

Police said the rape survivor was taken to the hospital by parents after she shared the ordeal with them and the hospital doctor confirmed gang rape after examining the minor.

Meanwhile, a joint team of Shahdol district administration and city administration demolished the “illegally constructed houses” of the accused in Kalyanpur village on Wednesday.
