Man shot by deputy in eastern North Carolina hospital

CLAYTON, NC — An officer shot and killed a man at an eastern North Carolina hospital Monday morning, WTVD reports.

It happened before 6 a.m. at UNC Healthcare Johnston County in the town of Clayton.

WTVD reports that the deputy was a member of the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office told WTVD that the deputy shot the man and he died at the scene. It did not say what led to the shooting.
