Titusville Police and building officials would like to remind residents to always close their garage doors and lock their homes, businesses and vehicles in an effort to reduce crime.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Police and Building Inspection Department are implementing a proactive crime prevention program for the next two months as statistics show an increase in home break-ins, auto thefts and vehicle thefts during the summer months.

Against this background, members of the police and law enforcement agencies would like to remind citizens to always close their garage doors and lock their homes, businesses and vehicles in order to specifically reduce crime.

In fact, 85% of all car break-ins and vehicle thefts occur when the vehicle is unlocked and/or the keys are inside the vehicle.

To prevent these crimes of opportunity, we will issue a reminder at 9 p.m. for the next 60 days of summer to lock vehicles, businesses and homes, remove valuables from your vehicles and close your garage door.

This message will be sent nightly at 9:00 p.m. via the Titusville Police Department’s official social media platforms.
