Sheldon man arrested after drunk driving stop | News

SHELDON – A 26-year-old Sheldon man was arrested at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5. He is facing first-time charges of driving under the influence, driving without a valid license and failure to have proof of motor vehicle liability insurance.

The arrest of Deyner A. Padilla-Salgado occurred after a 2006 Ford Mustang was stopped for an equipment violation on Third Avenue near 16th Street in Sheldon, according to Sheldon police.

Padilla-Salgado had bloodshot/watery eyes, impaired balance, smelled of alcoholic beverages and failed the sobriety test.

According to the incident report, he admitted to firing two shots and smoking marijuana before leaving his home shortly before his arrest.

A drug recognition expert determined that Padilla-Salgado was impaired by marijuana.
