Family of Milwaukee teenager killed in shooting wants answers

The 16-year-old killed in the shooting Sunday night near 38th Street and Meinecke Avenue has been identified as Shyir McCoy. McCoy’s aunt, Ieasha McCkee, said someone dropped him off at a relative’s house after the shooting instead of calling for help. She took him to Ascension St. Joseph Hospital, where he later died. “There was nothing we could do because when it was all said and done, you left my nephew behind and you knew what happened,” McKee said. “His life was taken and it’s so senseless.” McKee said McCoy was supposed to be playing basketball with friends when the shooting happened. She said her nephew was a model student who was about to start a new job and didn’t know why someone would shoot him. She hoped the people who were with him would come forward to police. “I don’t wish this on anybody, even the people that took him from us, and I really hope and pray that these guys wake up here because it’s not like this,” McKee said. Milwaukee police are still searching for anyone who may have been involved in the shooting and are investigating what led up to it. Anyone with information is asked to contact Milwaukee police at 414-935-7360. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 414-224-tips or through the P3 Tips app.
