Illinois State Police were investigating Monday night after a child was killed in a rollover crash on Interstate 57 near 107th Street in south Chicago, authorities said.

The accident was reported around 7:17 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate. According to ISP, troopers responded to a section of I-57 near 107th Street where a fatal rollover crash had occurred.

Authorities said a child who was also a passenger died at the scene of the accident.

Other people in the vehicle were taken to nearby hospitals.

As of Monday evening, it was not yet clear how many people were injured. The two right lanes were closed during the work on site, police said. The left lane was open to traffic.
