Boil water notice extended to more Atlanta areas – 95.5 WSB

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Watershed Department announced it has completed several rounds of repairs to the aging pipeline at the Joseph E. Boone Boulevard junction. and JP Brawley Dr.

Although repairs have been made, the boil water advisory remains in effect “out of an abundance of caution.”

Several water main breaks were reported in downtown Atlanta starting Friday and continuing through Saturday morning. As a result, the City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management issued a boil water advisory for much of the city.

On Saturday afternoon, they expanded that advisory to cover another section that includes most of the city from downtown and below.

Friday evening, police said they responded to the area of ​​11th Street NE and West Peachtree Street NE in reference to a broken water main. A portion of West Peachtree Street was blocked off until the problem could be resolved.

Two large water main breaks left customers without water in a wide area of ​​northwest Atlanta, from downtown to west, downtown and southwest Atlanta .

The first occurred at the intersection of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard and James P. Brawley Drive around 8 a.m. A spokesperson for the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management said that the break was a 48-inch transmission line directly connected to the city’s water treatment plant.

A water outage was expected to begin at 5 p.m. in parts of metro Atlanta as workers began repairing the pipe. We don’t know when the water will return.

The Atlanta Department of Watershed Management initially said the water disruption would be citywide, but later clarified it was limited to the affected area.

State Farm Arena has confirmed that tickets for tonight’s show will be automatically honored on Sunday.

Nine MARTA stations were closed due to the water outage. They include West End, Lakewood, Five Points, Georgia State, King Memorial, Inman Park, Candler Park, Bankhead and College Park stations.
