Rapho Township teen killed in hit-and-run on Thursday, active in church and community | Local News

The Rapho Township teenager who died in a hit-and-run accident last week will be remembered as someone who was active in his church and community.

Curtis Groff, 16, died Thursday evening after a vehicle struck him while he was working in the 200 block of Sun Hill Road in Penn Township, south of Manheim Borough, Northern Lancaster County Regional Police said.

The driver of the vehicle left the scene before police arrived. Investigators say they know who was driving the vehicle and where that person is, but have not identified the driver or indicated whether they plan to press charges. Police did not return calls Tuesday.

According to his obituary, Curtis was a member of White Oak Church in Penn Township, where he served as a youth group leader. He was a member of the Manheim Area Christian Home School Co-Op and played on the Spartans Homeschool Volleyball Team and the White Oak Gray Softball Team.

According to his obituary, he had two jobs in the area, at Buck’s Lawn Care Service in Lititz and Westview Enterprises in Manheim. He was an active teenager who enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowboarding and riding dirt bikes.

According to his obituary, White Oak Church, 1211 N. Penryn Road, will hold a memorial service for family and friends on May 11 to mark Curtis’ 17th birthday.
