Sexuality at Madonna concert angers concertgoers; now he is suing her

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man who attended a Madonna concert is now suing the singer, claiming that the show exposed fans to pornography “without warning” through simulated sexual acts and topless women on stage.

People Magazine reports that Justen Lipeles filed the class action lawsuit in California on Thursday. The suit accuses 65-year-old Madonna and the tour’s promoter, Live Nation, of “intentionally and misleadingly” withholding information when marketing the concerts.

The lawsuit also complains about the delayed start of four concerts in California. The singer is said to have only entered the stage after 10 p.m. The lawsuit also states that he sang along to recordings at most of the concerts and that the temperature during the performances was “hot and uncomfortable.”

Lipeles claims in the lawsuit that he became physically ill because of the heat, Entertainment Weekly reports. Forum Entertainment, Kia Forum, Acrisure Arena, the Golden 1 Center and the Chase Center are all named in the lawsuit.

Delays were not uncommon on Madonna’s “Celebration Tour”; two fans sued her in January because of this. At her stop in Cleveland on February 8, she actually didn’t start performing until shortly after 10 p.m. The show lasted about two hours.

Madonna has been one of the world’s most influential pop artists during her 40-year career. The “Queen of Pop” has sold more than 300 million records worldwide and is the highest-selling female artist of all time. She was a major presence on MTV in the 1980s and early 1990s.

She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.

Testing sexual boundaries has been a big part of her career, including the publication of her book “Sex” in 1992, which included several erotic photographs of the singer.
