Fatal accident victims identified | Region

Troy ISD released a statement Tuesday acknowledging the victims’ deaths.

“Troy ISD is deeply saddened by the loss of a Mays Elementary student who was involved in a car accident on Monday, May 27,” the school district said. “Two other individuals, former students, also lost their lives while a fourth person was injured. Our prayers are with the families of the victims of this accident.”

Troy police arrived at the crash around 5:45 p.m. Monday. Police determined that all four occupants, who are under the age of 18, were ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Three people were pronounced dead at the scene and one person was taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple with unknown injuries.

The survivor has not yet been identified.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was traveling south on the side road but then left the road and overturned.

The cause of the accident is currently being investigated.
