Telangana: 16-year-old allegedly raped and impregnated

JANGAON: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped and impregnated by a man in the Lingala Ghanpur police station area of ​​Jangaon district. The incident came to light on Monday evening when the minor developed abdominal pain and vomiting and her mother took her to a private hospital for a health check-up. After conducting tests, doctors confirmed that the girl is pregnant.

Police identified the accused as B Prakash, who hails from Lingala Ghanpur mandal in Jangaon district and works part-time as a driver and electrician.

According to Lingala Ghanpur police, when questioned by her parents, the victim admitted that she and the accused were in a relationship. She told her parents that Prakash was responsible for her pregnancy. After locals informed Lingala Ghanpur police about the incident, they started an investigation. The police recorded the girl’s statement and filed a complaint against Prakash.

Speaking to the media, Raghunathpalli Inspector E Srinivas said that the accused had captured and raped the minor girl, who is now pregnant, and also married her secretly. A case has been registered under Section 376 of the IPC (punishment for rape), the POCSO Act and the Child Marriage Act, Srinivas said.
