Ferry traffic suspended in Paturia-Daulatdia Ghat

MANIKGANJ, MAY 27, 2024 (BSS) – Ferry services between Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat routes have been suspended since last night due to gusty weather, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) sources at Paturia Ghat said.

Deputy General Manager (DGM) of BIWTC Paturia Ghat Shah Mohammad Khaled Newaz told BSS that ferry services on both the Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat ghats have been suspended from 9 pm on Sunday on the instructions of a higher authority.

DGM Khaled Newaz said that a total of 250 trucks, 11 buses and 30 other cars were at the ghat for crossing, but they were not given tickets and were asked to take an alternative route. He added that the ferry service between Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat will remain suspended until further notice by the BIWTC authority.

Meanwhile, all other motor boats and land boats remain stuck at both ghats.
