3 men arrested in connection with fatal shooting at SE Houston gas station that killed Dominican politician’s son

HOUSTON – Three men have been arrested, accused of a fatal shooting that injured a man and killed the son of a prominent Dominican Republic politician.

Hernan Torres, Sr. 50, Hernan Torres, Jr. 25, and Hernando Torres, 19, are charged with murder in connection with the shooting that resulted in the death of 34-year-old Luis Alfredo Pacheco.

Luis Pacheco was the son of the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic, Alfredo Pacheco.

The shooting happened around 8:20 p.m. on April 1 at a gas station located at 2490 S. Wayside Drive.

According to Houston police, officers went to the gas station and found Pacheco and another man who had been struck by gunfire. Both men were taken to the hospital where Pacheco succumbed to his injuries.

Police said the two victims along with two other men exited the convenience store and got into a black SUV, when a silver Dodge Charger and a silver Mercedes Benz drove up. Two men got out of the Charger and one man got out of the Mercedes and all began shooting repeatedly at the black SUV. The suspects then fled.

Surveillance photos of the wanted suspects, described at the time only as adult Hispanic males dressed in white, and vehicles were released to the public on April 2.

The three suspects were identified after further investigation and on Monday, May 6, the HPD South Gessner Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team, along with agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Marshals arrested Hernan Torres, Jr. and Hernando Torres without incident. .

A third suspect, Hernan Torres, Sr. is being held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on unrelated charges and awaiting extradition to Harris County.
