DEA agent shoots person in West Palm Beach incident

The person died at the scene of the incident, which occurred on Okeechobee Boulevard between Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard and Congress Avenue.

WEST PALM BEACH — A U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agent shot and killed a person in West Palm Beach Friday afternoon, the agency said in a statement.

The DEA did not immediately identify the person involved in the shooting, which occurred at a shopping center on Okeechobee Boulevard between Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard and Congress Avenue.

A DEA Miami Field Division spokesman said the agent was conducting an “authorized law enforcement action” at the time of the shooting. The injured person died at the scene. The spokesman said there was no danger to the community.

The DEA did not provide any further information and said it would not make any further statements while the incident was being investigated.
