Domestic dogs attack and kill London woman at home

A woman in her 50s died on Monday afternoon after she was fatally attacked by her dogs in her London residence.

While paramedics attempted to treat the woman at her home in Cornwall Close, Hornchurch, where the two registered XL thugs attacked her, the armed officers seized the dogs, as a BBC Report.

This was reportedly the first fatal attack by XL bully dogs.

“At around 1.12pm police were called to Cornwall Close… to reports of a woman being attacked by a dog… The woman was treated by London Ambulance Service medics but unfortunately she was pronounced dead at the scene. Due to the threat, armed officers were present. “After assessing the situation, officers were able to safely confiscate two dogs,” a Metropolitan Police spokesman said Guardian.

One woman recalled barking a lot during the incident.

“I didn’t see anything, but I heard a lot of barking and saw a lot of people outside,” she was quoted as saying by BBC.

“I came out of the house and looked to see what had happened. We hadn’t heard anything, but we saw a helicopter overhead and lots of police… I was standing on the street and saw a paramedic doing CPR. This poor woman. It’s shocking,” another neighbor told the publication.

It is noteworthy that since February 1st it has been illegal to own XL Bully breeds in England and Wales without an exemption certificate. This move is a response to the numerous attacks by this breed on humans.

Anyone who owns a dog of this particular breed must have it neutered, microchipped and muzzled.

“I think the whole community is in shock at this incident,” said Julia Lopez, MP for Hornchurch and Upminster BBC Radio London when she found that the deceased had complied with the law.
