Agar Malwa (MP), May 14 (PTI) A 17-year-old boy allegedly raped a five-year-old girl living in his neighborhood in Agar Malwa district of Madhya Pradesh, police said.

The incident took place on Sunday evening in a village under the limits of Soyat Kala police station, an official said on Monday.

The girl was playing outside her house when the boy lured her to his home where he raped her, said Yashwant Rao Gaekwad, superintendent of Soyat Kala police station.

Later that night, after feeling pain in her abdomen, the girl informed her family members about the incident, who then lodged a complaint with the police, he said.

The accused fled after the incident, the officer said.

A case has been registered against the minor boy under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, the official said.

An investigation into the incident is underway, he said.
