Weather alert day Monday

Monday’s Weather Impact Day has now been upgraded to a First Warning Weather Alert Day.

Timed coordination

Showers and thunderstorms can occur on the north coast between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Additional thunderstorms could develop during the afternoon between 1 and 4 p.m., followed by the main line of severe thunderstorms arriving at 6 p.m. and continuing through the rest of the night into early Tuesday morning before finally dissipating around 5 a.m.

Impact and threats

There is a slight risk of level 2 severe weather for all of southeast Louisiana. This means isolated to isolated severe thunderstorms are expected.

The main danger will be flooding. In fact, all areas have been downgraded to a moderate risk of flash flooding. Other storm threats include gusty winds and possible hail. However, the threat of tornadoes remains low.
