“Anonymous executive believes Nuggets guard Jamal Murray spared Game 3 suspension due to ratings”

Jamal Murray was lucky to get out of the league with just a $100,000 fine after an ugly incident that could have caused serious harm to the players and referees on the court during Game 2 of the NBA Western Conference semifinals can. The 27-year-old was filmed throwing a towel and heating pad onto the court during a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Ball Arena in Denver.

Although there were no injuries, analysts and fans voiced strong criticism of Murray’s immature behavior. He was booed and jeered during Game 3 in Minnesota, a game many believed he should not have attended.

According to a current article from Heavy.com, an NBA executive believes the league has chosen ratings over player safety. The board wished to remain anonymous but criticized the league’s stance on the issue.

“We all know what’s going on here. And it looks bad. “It was about protecting the television audience for the next game – or games,” said the anonymous manager.

Another front office source advocated for on-field referees who may have been injured on the job: “You should prioritize the safety and integrity of your referees. They should not be attacked. They should not feel intimidated or harassed while doing their work.”

With the Nuggets trailing 2-0 in the series heading into Game 3, a loss would have been devastating to their chances of advancing. Murray was one of the team’s best players all season and the Nuggets were fortunate to have their star guard on the court to lead them to an important 117-90 win. Murray finished the night with 24 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds.

Game 4 is scheduled to take place Sunday night at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
