Lindale man convicted of sexually assaulting mentally disabled child

Floyd County Judge William Sparks sentenced David Wayne Huether, 63, of Lindale, to 30 years in prison and life on probation after he was convicted in 2018 of sexually abusing a mentally disabled child.

Despite his arrest in 2019, the case was postponed pending a psychiatric evaluation. However, Huether, who was released on bond, refused to cooperate with state mental health officials.

Huether steadfastly maintained his innocence at the sentencing hearing this week.
