1 dead in car theft in Sterling, Virginia: Police

According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), one person was killed in a carjacking in Sterling, Virginia, on Sunday afternoon.

Officers said they were called to the 21,000 block of Towncenter Plaza for a carjacking. When they arrived, police found that 54-year-old Melody Waldecker had been struck by the car as the suspect was leaving the scene.

Officials said Waldecker was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Following the incident, police said they had arrested one person and that there was no ongoing threat to the community.
