A cybersecurity breach was reported at the Fremont school

According to a social media post, the district is working to get all systems back online.

FREMONT, Ohio – Law enforcement is investigating a cybersecurity incident at Fremont City Schools.

School leaders learned Sunday evening that an unauthorized party had accessed the district’s computer network, according to a statement from Superintendent Jon Detweiler on the district’s social media page.

District leaders contacted the Fremont Police Department, which connected the school with the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, Detweiler said. The Ohio Cyber ​​Reserves, operating out of the Ohio National Guard, were also asked to investigate the incident on site.

During the investigation, officials shut down the district’s computer capabilities; They said they are working to bring the system back online safely under the direction of the Ohio Cyber ​​Reserves.

Detweiler assured families in the post that all students were safe.
