Afghanistan: Traffic accident on Maidan Wardak claims two lives

According to local Taliban officials, two people were killed and three others injured in a traffic accident in Maidan Wardak province.

The Taliban-run Bakhtar news agency quoted Taliban officials as saying the incident occurred on Sunday, July 14, near the agricultural college in Maidan Shahr City, the center of Maidan Wardak province.

The accident was reportedly caused by a Toyota Corolla overturning.

The number of traffic accidents has increased on various highways in the country, and dozens of people have lost their lives in recent weeks.

Officials from the Taliban-controlled traffic authority previously said most of these incidents were due to drivers’ negligence and excessive speed.
