Heat will be a major issue Monday afternoon as temperatures continue to rise across East Tennessee.

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee – It’s going to be hot Monday afternoon, so there’s a chance people could develop heat-related illnesses.

Temperatures are expected to reach above 35 degrees, while the head index is expected to rise to 39-41 degrees.

The heat index indicates how it will most likely feel outside, so anyone planning to leave the house should have a plan to cool down and stay hydrated.

What influence can the weather have on me?


Signs of heat stroke include headache, dizziness, nausea, confusion and a rapid, strong pulse. If you experience these symptoms while out and about, you should immediately find a place to cool down and drink some water. If the symptoms are severe enough, you should also call for help.

If your pulse becomes weak but rapid, if you vomit, or if you experience muscle cramps, you should try to cool down. These are signs of heat exhaustion.
