Motorcyclist in Texas has fatal accident with road debris

One of the things many professional motorcycle instructors teach their students is to always be aware of their surroundings. This may sound strenuous, but there is a way to do it that is not so strenuous. Ignoring this advice can lead to a fatal accident, as unfortunately happened to a motorcyclist in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolis early on the morning of July 10th.

Motorists can be killed by speeding motorcycles.

We don’t have many details about the accident, so it’s entirely possible that the driver didn’t have time to react and avoid the road debris he hit. What we don’t know from NBC DFW is that a dump truck was traveling on a highway and hit one of the signs, causing fragments of that structure to fall onto the roadway.

If the driver had not been so far behind the dump truck, he would have had little time to react. But there is a lesson to be learned. Driving closely behind heavy machinery, trucks, etc. is inherently dangerous and should really be avoided.

But we are too casual about these things because we are constantly surrounded by these 40-ton vehicles. As the saying goes, we are too casual about the risks we often take, and that is certainly true when it comes to driving on the road.

As far as constant attention while riding goes, this may seem like too much to ask of many. If you cycle to work every day and also cycle to other places on a regular basis, you can’t be expected to always be aware of everything around you, can you?

But when you’re driving, you have to do that. Technically, you should do that when you’re driving a car, but on a motorcycle you’re much more exposed to the dangers of the road, so it’s even more important. The best way to do that is to get into the habit of seeing everything but not seeing anything. That’s a trick that racers use.

On a race track or street circuit, they don’t focus on anything in particular, but simply take everything in with their eyes. This allows them to spot dangers earlier and have more time to react.

Whatever happened in this situation, unfortunately this driver did not survive this strange accident.
