Tampa police issue Purple Alert for missing 64-year-old

TAMPA, Florida – Tampa police have issued a Purple Alert following the disappearance of a 64-year-old man.

Hankins is 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighs about 200 pounds, is missing his lower teeth and suffers from schizophrenia, police said.

Anyone with information on Hankins’ whereabouts is asked to call the TPD at 813-231-6130.

A Purple Alert was introduced in Florida in July 2022 and is issued when an adult over the age of 18 with mental, cognitive, intellectual or developmental disabilities goes missing. It is different from the Silver Alert, which is used to find missing people age 60 and older who are suffering from a decline in their mental abilities.
