Elizabeth Garibay charged with drunk driving in two-car crash on Highway 152 near Lodi Road

MERCED COUNTY, CA (July 10, 2024) — Elisabeth Garibay faces drunken driving charges following a two-car crash on Highway 152 near Lodi Road on Monday.

Two teenagers were taken to Valley Children’s Hospital after the two-car crash, which occurred around 8:30 p.m. Garibay, 25, was impaired and collided with a westbound 2013 Nissan Frontier as she attempted to pass it. The impact caused the Nissan, which was traveling about 50 mph, to veer off the road and overturn in an irrigation ditch. Garibay’s 2007 Toyota Camry came to a stop near the center barrier.

Minutes later, emergency responders arrived and took two children — ages 8 and 4 — who were not properly restrained in Garibay’s vehicle to a hospital. The Nissan driver suffered minor injuries and police arrested Garibay for drunk driving.
