Footage shows a shark attacking beachgoers in Texas who were swimming in shallow waters.

Several people were injured in the attacks on South Padre Island during the Fourth of July Independence Day celebrations.

Four people were struck by the shark. Fire Chief Jim Pigg of the South Padre Island Fire Department said three of the victims were hospitalized and a fourth was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

He added that the shark involved in the attacks “was at the southern end of the island and was pushed into deeper waters.”

“This is unprecedented here on South Padre Island,” Pigg added.
