Maryland State Police investigate fatal accident in Prince George’s County

UPPER MARLBORO — Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Prince George’s County that killed three people Saturday, including Minnesota Vikings rookie defensive back Khyree Jackson.

According to authorities, it happened just after 3 a.m. when Forestville Barracks officers were called to a crash on Route 4 northbound at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Presidential Parkway.

When authorities arrived, they found that three cars were involved in the crash: a silver Infinity Q50, a silver Chevrolet Impala, and a maroon Dodge Charger.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the silver Infiniti, later identified as Cori Clingman, was traveling northbound on Route 4/Pennsylvania Avenue and attempted to change lanes at a high rate of speed, striking first the Dodge Charger and then the Chevrolet Impala.

According to police, the accident caused the Charger to veer off the right side of the road, hit several tree stumps and eventually come to a stop.

The report further states that three victims, now identified as 23-year-old Isaiah Hazel, 24-year-old Khyree Jackson and 24-year-old Anthony Lytton Jr., were passengers of a maroon Dodge Charger. Hazel was the driver. Jackson was the passenger and Lytton was in the back seat of the vehicle.

Hazel and Jackson were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services. Lytton was taken to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center, where hospital staff later pronounced him dead.

At the time of the accident, two other passengers were in Clingman’s Infinity. No one in their vehicle was injured.

According to police, the driver of the Chevrolet Impala was also uninjured in the accident.

Investigators believe that alcohol may have been a cause of the accident.

The Minnesota Vikings organization confirmed Jackson’s identity and released a statement about X.

“The loss of Khyree breaks my heart. When we got to know him leading up to the draft, it was clear what goals Khyree wanted to achieve both professionally and personally. His story was one of resilience. He took steps to become the best version of himself, not only for himself, but for those who cared about him and looked up to him. Khyree’s personality captured every room he was in.”

Authorities say charges will be filed pending the completion of the investigation and consultations with the Prince George’s County District Attorney’s Office. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the investigation.
