A woman who allegedly punched, kicked and head-butted prison staff attempting to restrain her in a restraint chair appeared in Baxter County District Court Monday.

Shannon Michelle Robertson, 48, who listed a Mountain View address, pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree assault on a police/corrections officer and obstructing the operation of a vital public facility.

Both charges are Class C felonies.

On December 21st of last year, Robertson was transported by Mountain Home Police to the Baxter County Detention Center to be booked into jail.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Robertson became aggressive and violent upon his arrival at the prison.

She is also said to have mentioned that she wanted to end her life.

As prison staff attempted to strap Robertson into a restraint chair, she attempted to injure herself and prison staff with her fingernails.

Robertson allegedly dug her fingernails into a female jail guard’s finger, causing a small cut. The guard was taken to Baxter Health’s emergency room for evaluation and treatment. Compensation for hospitalization is being sought on behalf of the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office.

Robertson is free on $2,000 bail.
