Nicholas Galitzine opens up about his sexuality after starring in Queer Stories

Nicholas Galitzine shares insights into his sexuality.

After appearing as an undercover rugby player in Pretty devila gay prince in Red, white and royal blueand a man who seduces the King of England Mary and GeorgeGalitzine, 29, faced questions about his actual preferences.

“I identify as a straight man, but I’ve been a part of some incredible queer stories,” he says British GQ. “Sometimes I felt a sense of insecurity about taking someone’s place, and perhaps a guilty conscience. At the same time, I see more than just their sexuality in these characters.”

Galitzine — who once thought he would become a professional athlete before injuries set him on a different path — told the publication that he isn’t afraid to challenge masculinity, although that isn’t always the case.

“I was a very scared young man,” he remembers. “And I think a lot of men are really scared. I think they are afraid of their own mortality. I think they’re afraid of being discovered. There’s this idea in masculinity that you have to be in control and safe.”

Galitzine’s latest role is not a queer one. Rather in Your ideaHe plays a 24-year-old pop star who has a romantic relationship with a 40-year-old divorcee, played by Anne Hathaway.

When ET spoke to Hathaway last month, she opened up about her chemistry with her co-star.

“Nick and I hit it off straight away,” she said. “We just started texting, and then we started talking, and then we played together, and then we talked in between… We just developed a real friendship, and that’s really, I don’t know, special .”

The answer to that Book adaptation was positive to say the least, something that was “unreal,” Galitzine said said ET at the Met Gala.

“I’m so grateful,” he added. “…I feel a lot of love, which is really nice.”
