Kyle Police Arrest Suspect in Gas Station Shooting | City of Kyle, Texas

On Monday, July 1, at approximately 4:53 p.m., Kyle Police responded to a 911 call regarding a shooting at the 7/11 at 20925 Interstate 35.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a male victim who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds during an attempted robbery; the suspect had already fled the scene.

Emergency responders immediately provided emergency medical care and applied a tourniquet until paramedics arrived on scene and were able to transport the victim to a nearby hospital. The victim is currently in stable condition.

“Today, I commend our first responders for their quick medical intervention,” said Kyle Police Chief Dr. Jeff Barnett. “Our detectives demonstrated exemplary investigative skills in quickly identifying this dangerous individual. The diligence and quick actions of our patrol officers were critical in locating and apprehending the threat to our community. Together, they embodied the best qualities of law enforcement – courage, compassion and unwavering dedication to public safety.”

During the investigation, police were able to identify the suspect as Edward Ramirez, 50, of Kyle, Texas. Second District Justice of the Peace Beth Smith issued arrest warrants for Ramirez.

On Monday, July 1, at approximately 11:41 p.m., Kyle Police officers located and arrested Ramirez at Exxon Mobile, 18701 I-35. Officers found the firearm believed to have been used in the attempted robbery in Ramirez’s possession.

Ramirez has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, and aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, as well as outstanding warrants for traffic violations and failure to appear. He is currently being held in the Hays County Jail.
