Newark Police Ask Public for Help in Finding Man in Armed Robbery Investigation

NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Department of Public Safety is asking the public for help in locating 33-year-old Anthony Carter Jr. of Irvington. Carter is wanted for an armed robbery that occurred on the evening of June 15, 2024.

The incident occurred at around 11:30 p.m. at a residence on Sherman Avenue near Astor Street. Two armed men reportedly entered the home as a resident opened the door to let a visitor out. The intruders, described as black men wearing black clothing and face masks, began robbing the residents. They allegedly stole wallets totaling $400 and other personal items, as well as car keys belonging to the victims. Interestingly, no items were taken from the visitor, who left the home at that time.

Both suspects, who were of similar height (about 6 feet 11 inches) and slim build, fled the scene on foot heading south on Sherman Avenue.

Director Fritz G. Fragé is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Anthony Carter Jr. to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
