VIPIR 6 ALARM ON SUNDAY: Dangerous heat and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon

Sunday morning update: A VIPIR 6 ALERT DAY has been issued on this dangerously hot Sunday, with a heat warning for most of the CSRA between 11am and 8pm. The air temperature will be around 35 degrees, but when you factor in the oppressive humidity, it will feel as warm as 42 degrees. Be sure to limit your time outdoors as much as possible during the heat warning, and do everything you can to stay cool and hydrated.

There is also a slight risk of severe weather in most areas as we could see some strong to severe storms ahead of an approaching cold front this afternoon. Behind the front, things will get a little cooler and drier, giving us a brief respite from the extreme heat and humidity to start the week.
