24-year-old man arrested for abusing an 8-year-old girl

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man who allegedly admitted to sexually abusing a young girl for years. Officers took 24-year-old Giancarlo Gonzalez-Nieves into custody Thursday. Investigators said the alleged abuse lasted about four years, starting when the victim was 8 and ending when she was 12. Sheriff Marcos Lopez called her brave for being willing to share details of what happened. That led to the arrest of Gonzales-Nieves, who officials say was over 18 at the time of the abuse. Investigators said they recently received a call from the victim and began an investigation that included interviewing the suspect. Officials said it happened at a Kissimmee home owned by a relative of Gonzalez-Nieves. He is charged with felony sexual abuse. Sheriff Lopez praised his officers for their work in making the arrest. “My Special Victims Unit detectives did a fantastic job on this case and thoroughly investigated it, obtaining multiple confessions from Gonzalez-Nieves confirming the allegations of abuse,” Lopez said. Lopez said they are still working on the case and asked if anyone has been abused or witnessed anything and can come forward.
