Houston Resident Wins $1 Million Top Prize in Texas Lottery Scratch-Off Game

A Houston resident’s business card was in line to land him a big payday in a scratch-off ticket game.

The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, won a winning ticket worth $1 million in the Texas Lottery scratch-off ticket game, Million Dollar Loteria. The winning ticket was purchased at a Food Town grocery store, located at 10902 Scarsdale Blvd., in Houston.

This is the seventh of 10 top prizes worth $1 million to be claimed in the game, meaning there are only three top prize tickets left to claim. The previous top prize winner, from San Juan, Texas, claimed his $1 million in February.

There are also 15 second prize tickets remaining to be won, worth $20,000 each.

Million Dollar Loteria, which costs $20 per ticket, offers more than $378.2 million in total prizes. Gameplay consists of three game boards with symbols that players attempt to match from symbols on a calling card. There is also a fourth bonus game area which gives players the chance to win $100 and $200.

The odds of winning the $1 million jackpot are 1 in 2.52 million. The overall odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 3.29, including breakeven prizes. Prizes range from $20 to the $1 million jackpot.

Since the first ticket sold in 1992, the Texas Lottery has generated more than $39 billion in revenue for the state and distributed more than $87 billion in prizes to lottery players. The Texas Lottery offers several games to players, including Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto Texas, All or Nothing, Texas Two Step, Pick 3, Daily 4, Cash Five, and scratch ticket games.
