McAllen man sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexually abusing two children

McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A McAllen man was found guilty of aggravated sexual abuse of children and sentenced to 30 years in prison, according to a Hidalgo County judge.

Carlos Mario Vargas, 41, pleaded guilty on Monday to two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.


On December 8, 2019, McAllen Police received a report of two minors who had been sexually abused. The children, ages 8 and 10, were interviewed by a forensic interviewer and both underwent a sexual abuse evaluation.

The investigation revealed that Vargas had sexually abused both children several times.

“Our office, along with the continued support and commitment of local law enforcement, will continue to deploy all necessary resources to bring child molesters to justice,” said Hidalgo County District Attorney Toribio “Terry” Palacios.

The case was heard by Judge Ysmael Fonseca in the 476thth District Court of Hidalgo County.
