Minor girl gang-raped in Pattan, three arrested – Rising Kashmir

Srinagar, June 24: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl from Pattan in Baramulla district was allegedly raped by three men.
The police have arrested the accused under the POCSO Act.
After the missing person report was filed, the police launched a manhunt for the underage girl. It eventually emerged that she had been kidnapped by three men, taken to a rented apartment in Srinagar and attacked there.
An FIR No. 219 of 2024 under Section 363 (Kidnapping) was registered at Pattan Police Station and further investigation was initiated.
According to the police, a search operation was launched after the missing person report was received. The girl was found the next day and when questioned she stated that she had been raped by three men.
After recording the girl’s statement, the police immediately arrested the three suspects and launched a thorough investigation. The suspects allegedly took the girl to a rented accommodation in Srinagar where the crime took place. The police also seized the vehicle used in the abduction.
Initially, the case was registered only under Section 363 (kidnapping). However, after the girl’s statement, additional charges were filed against the accused, including gang rape under Sections 376 A and D and the POCSO Act.
Residents of the area are demanding strict action against those involved in this heinous crime. The police have assured the public of a thorough investigation to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
