Man shot dead on street in Central Florida, murder investigation underway

A man was shot and killed on a Central Florida road as the community drove past a crime scene.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred in the 19000 block of Bruce B Downs Blvd at Regents Park Drive in Tampa.

“It is absolutely horrifying that our community has to drive past a dead man on the road,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “I am asking the community to come forward if they have any information. No tip is too small.”

The HCSO Communications Center received a call at 2:51 p.m. reporting a fatality after shots were fired in the street on Regents Park Drive. When officers arrived, they found an adult male dead.

Detectives were on site and were intensively investigating the events of that afternoon.
